I have had the opportunity of reading Nancy's book "Broken Stone:
-A Real Fairy's Tale" and give it a thumbs up.
The book is different in a very good way. I have never read
a similar book and
feel she must have had some help
from above. But that is where good ideas come from anyway
- right? I took the
book to bed to read a little and
could not put it down. (Cecil)

This came across my radar screen, and I just couldn’t resist sharing! Fairies, Fairies, everywhere!!

Fairies, Fairies, Everywhere!!

~ We are finally seeing it happen all around us.  Old systems are crumbling, the truth is emerging (slowly, but definitely surely), and one by one the people are finally beginning to take notice.  As the Veil of Forgetfulness gets thinner and thinner, people will also begin observing and sensing something else;  the clear and very real presence of their un-incarnated family and friends.  They take a fascinating variety of forms!  Lovely Angelics;  Light Beings presenting themselves as delicate and colorful Orbs;  Galactic Brethren-so much like us ,yet of a much lighter vibration;  the Sacred Cetaceans, so playful and happy;  the list is endless, and I could go on and on for hours!  Today, however, it’s all about the Elemental Realm and in particular, the Fairies.

~ I’ve drawn today’s card from the Angel Therapy deck, and it is entitled “Fairies.”  There is so much to say about Fairies, and I know that there are many of you out there who are far more knowledgeable about them than I am.  So for now I’m going to focus only on the meaning of the card and the message which is coming through to me as I write.  This card is bringing attention to our natural bond with Gaia and the Elemental Realm.  It is reminding us that we came here to Earth to be of assistance to Her, in addition to any other duties we agreed to perform.  It’s really easy to lose sight of this fact sometimes.  As Lightworkers we are becoming more and more conscious of our missions.  We are writers, healers, speakers, system-busters…  But in addition to these roles, we also – without exception – agreed to come in as Earthly custodians.  We are Gaia’s Army!

~ The Fairies wish to remind us that we must each take personal responsibility for the health and recovery of our planet.  They are encouraging us to be eco-conscious with each decision we make.  This may be done by being selective in the products we buy, the manner in which we prepare our food and dispose of our trash, how we educate our children and the example we set in our community.  They wish to make you more aware of their own presence.  They would dearly like to connect with you and share their invaluable wisdom!

images~ To make contact with the Fairy Realm, you need only step outside your front door!  The Fairies are absolutely everywhere in Nature, and as I type this they are quick to step in and say “You don’t need to go outdoors to find us.  We are in your homes, surrounding your houseplants and the animals. We are working to purify your water supply.”  Try connecting during meditation, or simply close your eyes and allow a message or a vision to take shape.  The Fairies are right beside us.  They are here in our physical world, living among us and assisting us in ways they we are not even aware of.  Their close proximity makes them exceptionally accessible, and somewhat easier for a beginner to see and hear than many of our Galactic and Angelic Guides.  Take a walk out in Nature and focus your gaze upon the flowers and they trees.  Hold your attention there and allow the connection to take place.  Bring a notebook and pen with you and record any impressions that you get.  The Fairies are also Master Manifesters!  They are anxious to help you bring your creative ideas to fruition!

As I mentioned before, I know that a lot of my readers are already actively working with the Fairies on a regular basis, and I would love for you to share your wisdom with us in the Comment section.  Have a magical day…  Bella.

Broken Stone: A Real Fairy’s Tale

By N. K. Hertz

Consumer Copy

It has been said that we should not know the future, as it could scare us to death!Little did Steffen know one ordinary day during an ordinary walk through the cemetery that his future was about to be profoundly changed! He did not know that she was waiting for him, beside her broken headstone. She called to him, with her siren song that only he could hear. Hypnotically, he followed the song to her forgotten, broken gravesite. Hackles rose on his neck as he contemplated her name and date: Fairy Bright Gordon, 1917-1934. Was this eerie feeling a premonition of things to come?

So begins the story in Broken Stone: A Real Fairy’s Tale. It tells the tale of a young woman in the early 1900’s that lived a short mysterious life. Someone needed to hear her story so that her early death would not have been in vain. That someone was Steffen, a modern day architect that frequently walked on his lunch hour as a quiet break from his stressed-filled days. Unsuspecting, he could not know that Fairy Bright would become his confidant, mentor and tormentor, turning his life upside down and inside out as he questioned all he thought he knew about himself, spirituality and the world. He could not be prepared for the extraordinary, bizarre turns this and other strange encounters would provoke, forcing either his enlightenment or early demise!

Final Approval Form! Signed!! Sigh….. :)

My Goodness!!

It has taken so very long to get to this point, but Tuesday, I signed off on the Edits and can now move forward to Marketing and Publishing!!  Yippee and Yahooey! I will be ordering a limited number of pre-release books to be sold through this blog. That means, you get them first, before they are released to the public. You get first dibs! and I can autograph them to whomever you specify! Details to come, but I wanted to let you know, she’s ready to be born! Dear Fairy Bright, what a journey this has been. But soon, your story will be revealed!

Accompanying Original Musical CD

BrokenStoneSuiteDIGITALCOVERAfter two years, Broken Stone Suite has been mastered and produced into a phenomenal CD! I don’t know where all the inspiration, ideas came from, well actually I do, they came from deep recesses in Chris that surprised even him! The music, and the lyrics are certainly multi-dimensional. Combined with the book and illustrations, it should give the reader/listener the full experience of characters and story.

We plan to release both creations together as a limited edition package, just as soon as the book is published. Still waiting, and waiting and….. but will be worth the wait, I trust.

Here is a sneak peek of the CD written, performed, mastered by Chris, and illustrated by me. May you get a feeling of what is inside.

Final Edits with Sticky Notes in Adobe

After reading through my book proof yet another time, I was amazed at how many edits I found! It really helped having that actual book in my hands.  My conundrum was, how to explain what the edits were, and where! Because the Epilogue was left out by an oversight, the Table of Contents had to be changed, just as a start in the edits.

Then I noticed the categories that my book was labeled under. Mystery/Detective! No way. Those needed to be changed also. This was getting serious and I was only supposed to have 100 edits. Dang! As many were an oversight, I feel 127 edits should pass. But again, how do I correctly communicate the edits, using “sticky notes” in Adobe Reader. This is yet another new program in which I need to find my way around.

Tosha kept me cool and calm and assured me it should all be ok. I should received the final back in 2 – 4 weeks. Well, it’s almost 2 weeks now, and I feel I need to communicate with the editor and head off any snafu’s. We are so close, yet so far. This last has to be perfection, both for my sake, the book’s sake, and the professional product from Tate Publishing. I feel like I am in limbo, but I am trusting all will be just fine. There’s that word again, fine! (An inside book joke.)

To tantalize a bit more, here is another illustration – “The Gypsies!”

DPI’s,PDF’s, JPEG’s, and XCF!! oh my!

THe easy part, was producing the illustrations. Now I had to photograph them and send them in a particular format so that they would reproduce cleanly.

I didn’t know what a ride that would turn out to be for me. I was told that photographs were 72 DPI or dots per inch. The needed to be 300. How did I do that?! The Editor couldn’t help me. I was on my own, or needed to find someone to do that for me. Well I found someone, but got stubborn and thought I needed to learn this myself.

Photoshop was of course the perfect software to use. But there were several versions, and it was quite expensive. While cruising the internet, I found Gimp and it was free! Now I just had to learn how it worked. I don’t know how I stumbled through it all, but I did learn how to change the DPI’s, except that in Gimp, they called it PPI. I learned how to manipulate colors and enhance the drawings.

The next test was sending them in. The Editor couldn’t open the attachments. It was unknown! I had to send them as JPEG’s and Gimp sent them as XCF. I did figure it out. I did get 5 illustrations sent to Tate. They are going into an insert at the back of the book, so that they will be in full color. Tate has been wonderful to work with, and I can’t wait to see the end result.

Here is one of my Illustrations, The Hatcher Farm.

On to the Illustrations!

Well, I am the perfect example of needing to work under pressure, I guess.  Somehow, I lost the month of February. I didn’t get much done, except finalizing the edits, and cover ideas. As for the illustrations, nada.

I wasn’t sure how to proceed.  I finally decided to use illustration board which I found at Hobby Lobby and an assortment of Cansen pastel paper, so purchased a supply. I had some photos of children that I would use for reference. In fact little Mariah, was a perfect young Fairy Bright!

But to get the muse flowing, was hard indeed.

I ended up using a piece of board, with a mixture of pastel, colored pencil and marker for my first painting. Fairy Bright and her friends emerged on the board. Not bad.

I called my daughter and her best friend to pose for me for a portrait of an older Fairy Bright. This was on pastel paper with straight pastel. When I started drawing, it was like I was directed to draw things a certain way, and not as any particular person. It was remarkable. I am so used to doing a total likeness, and this was a unique person.

That night I walked up into my studio, and saw the unfinished portrait on the easel. I got chills and the hair stood up on the back of my neck. It was if she was telling me, I had captured her likeness! Well the finished portrait is not like anyone I know.  Wouldn’t it be something if she actually looked like my painting?!

I accomplished two more illustrations as I sequestered myself in the house for two weeks. I even cancelled a needed massage!

The result, four unique paintings that helps capture the elements of the story. I’m pretty proud. They will be added as a color insert in the book. I can’t wait!
